" I believe nature is our caregiver, speaking to us not with words but through rhythms, sounds, and silence. Her waters heal the depths of our hearts, washing away the darkness and bringing light once again. To me, the Creator is deeply personal and ever-present, living in all that is nature. " ~ Laura

I was born on January 8th in Galt, Ontario.

From there, my family moved to Thunder Bay and then to Calgary.

It wasn’t until I was a young adult, after experiencing the tragic loss of my daughter, that I felt an overwhelming need for solace.

Seeking healing, I moved west to British Columbia.Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of living in some of the most enchanting places: Vancouver Island, the Okanagan, the Rocky Mountains, and the West Kootenays. In each of these places, I’ve found opportunities to explore, walking countless trails that touched my heart and helped heal my soul.

One day, while hiking with my dog, I heard a rustling in the dense forest.

Convinced it was a bear, I prepared myself for a tense encounter.

But instead, a man emerged from the brush, his arms full of branches

he used to build wooden chairs. That unexpected meeting sparked

a wonderful friendship. I soon discovered he was an artist working

with acrylics and oils, and he became the inspiration I needed to

express myself on canvas

Although I’ve had no formal training, I kept painting, spurred on by his encouragement. His voice, reminding me not to be afraid, still echoes

in my mind. The mossy trails, the moving ocean, the serene lakes,

and the lush forests of the West Coast have become my constant

companions in healing. These living entities—nature itself—

embraced me, helping to soothe my spirit.

As I hold a brush in my hand, I recall the sights, sounds, and movements that have left lasting impressions on me. I believe nature is our caregiver, speaking to us not with words but through rhythms, sounds, and silence. Her waters heal the depths of our hearts, washing away the darkness and bringing light once again. To me, the Creator is deeply personal and ever-present, living in all that is nature.

While acrylic painting is my first love, I have recently discovered the magic of alcohol inks. This medium takes me to new heights of creativity. Its playful and does talk back as its not easily contained to do what you tell it.  But its fun and exciting and it is a unique way of art. I enjoy working with its movement as well as its brilliant colours and watching it is like magic, kind of like that in nature itself.
